The Murwillumbah NRUDRH has a combined accommodation and health education centre which is situated behind the Murwillumbah District Hospital.
• Upon arrival at the Murwillumbah hospital make you way to the main reception. The hospital reception closes at 8pm weekdays and 4.30pm weekends. You will need to arrive prior to that time or make special arrangements when booking accommodation.
• If you arrive after 8pm go to the A&E Department and ask for the night supervisor who will give you the keys to your accommodation.
• A $10 deposit for the keys is payable on arrival.
• Your linen will be in the accommodation bathroom.
• Student information and maps are available in the accommodation foyer
The Murwillumbah accommodation is within easy walking distance to the town centre, medical practices and the Community Health Centre.
Facilities include
- Shared kitchen with dining table, refrigerator, mocrowave, lounge, TV, bathroom
- Rooms contain a wardrobe, desk, chair and single bed and beside table
- Tea, Coffee, Milk and sugar are provided
- Library, 2 Computers with Internet & Microsoft Office access. A phone is provided in the library with local call access.
- Computer room with 7 computers with Internet & Microsoft Office access
- Linen is provided
- Clothes washing machine
- Iron and ironing board
- Parking and pathway to building with lights

What do I need to bring?
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Student ID badge (to be worn during working hours)
• $10 deposit for key to accommodation
• Vaccination/immunisation records
• Practical clothing including covered shoes
• Food is not provided however the student accommodation is equipped with shared cooking facilities. Food can be purchased at local supermarkets some of which have long trading hours. There is also a cafeteria within the Murwillumbah Hospital.
What is the weather like?
The Tweed/Gold Coast has a well deserved reputation for having the best climate in Australia. Murwillumbah experiences mild winters with evening minimums just below 10°C and clear, warm days with an average day time temperature of 24°C.
Murwillumbah's summers offer a near tropical experience. Most of the rain falls between February and May.
Do I need to bring a car?
Having your own transport is necessary.
How Do I Get There?
AIRPORT - Gold Coast airport at Coolangatta is just 25 minutes drive north. Daily flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Gold Coast airport, with airport transfer services and local buses (Surfside) available.

Bus and Train combination - Daily coach services from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne setdown outside the Visitor Information Centre, and CountryLink coaches operate from the (now closed) railway station for transfers to Casino, for connecting to the daily or overnight train from Sydney to Brisbane
ROAD/DRIVING: Murwillumbah is approximately 1.5 hours drive south of Brisbane. It is approximately 10-11 hours drive north of Sydney. It is 45 minutes north to the heart of the Gold Coast and 45 minutes south to Byron Bay.
How far is the student accommodation from where I work?
The former nurse"s quarters at the Murwillumbah Hospital has been converted into a motel style accommodation with ensuite facilities. This centre is positioned behind the hospital.
What will it cost?
STUDENTS
UPSTAIRS (OPTION 1)
SINGLE ROOM BASIC, 2 shared bathrooms.
$20:00 / week Cleaning Services if rental receipt or bank deposit provided confirming rent paid at usual place of residence; OR
$50:00 / week if NO rental receipt provided.
(Refundable key deposit of $10.00 is payable upon arrival)
DOWNSTAIRS (OPTION 2)
SINGLE ROOM ensuite & air-conditioning (*** 3 star rating)
$50:00 / week if rental receipt/bank deposit slip provided (confirming rent paid at usual place of residence); OR
$70:00 / week if NO rental receipt provided.
(Refundable key deposit of $10.00 is payable upon arrival)
